Top 8 fashion trends you will be wearing this autumn/winter 2019

Yeah, it’s mid-November and, unfortunately, bike shorts, tie-dye and cowboy boots are nothing more than a past memory. But don’t panic, it is never too late to catch up with the latest cold season trends. Fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris are over and, as usual, their catwalks have poured hundreds of designs into the streets of every city. While hairpins and bucket hats have been able to survive previous seasons, some other new trends are making their way into most fashionists’ wardrobes. Whether you are a fashion addict or you just want to get a bit of inspiration, here are a bunch of autumn/winter 2019 trends you need to know about.

1. Puffy shoulders

Puffy shoulders are a clear example that old trends always come back, yet with a modern twist. This time they get a little bit extra. Organza, silk, wool, tulle, satin… they come in different sizes, fabrics and colours but the truth is that puffy shoulders have come to stay.

2. Puffy headbands

Is it everything puffy this season or is it just my imagination? Puffy headbands are a clear must-have accessory this season which will make a difference in your wintertime outfit. Go get one if you haven’t yet.

3. Snakeskin boots

If last summer was the time for super-comfy strap sandals and chunky sneakers, now it is time for a good pair of, needless to say, synthetic snakeskin boots. What is more, it seems that knee-length boots will be the protagonists this year.

4. Waist belts

Be it to wrap them around dresses, coats, knits, blazers or maxi shirts, the good thing is that waist belts offer endless ways to style your outfits. While these have had its highs and lows in the world of fashion, this flattering accessory is back again to slenderise our waists.

5. Nail art

Celebrities such was the world-famous Kylie Jenner or the Spanish artist Rosalía have been important precursors of this increasingly popular trait. Considered by some as a sign of femininity, empowerment and self-assurance, extreme manicures featuring pointy, highly-decorated nails are now a thing.

6. Leather effect

If it ever departed the runway, another fabric which has made a major comeback is the leather effect, which can be easily found in garments such as skirts, trousers, trench coats and jumpsuits, to name some.

7. Oversized blazers

Oversized blazers have long been a timeless staple in our wardrobes but it seems they keep  getting bigger and bigger. This autumn/winter you will be wearing them with waist belts and in a wide array of patterns: tartan, hound’s tooth, tweed or gingham, among others.

8. Ruffles

Dresses and blouses full of volume have been the protagonists in the warmest days this year. Yet, ruffles have been able to trespass the boundaries of summer straight into the autumn/winter catwalks in a number of creative, sometimes asymetric, designs. Love them or hate them, ruffles are dominating shop windows these days.

Now it’s time for you to update your wardrobe and decide which of these trends will work with your own style.
